14,000 Mile Solo Road Trip Around the Western United States
After I got back to the States from backpacking around Costa Rica, I had no job. And no real commitments, so I decided to take a long road trip to the Western United States. I left May 1st and finished July 7th, with a total of 67 days on the road and an extra 14,000+ miles on my Honda’s odometer. I saw some surreal beauty that the western United States was hiding, became comfortable with camping solo, got even closer with my dog, and generally had a badass time.
My dog, Brandy, and I started in Fort Worth, Texas and finished in Denver, Colorado. Our trip lead us through west Texas to New Mexico, then up to Colorado, and west to Utah where I met up with my best friend and I ended up meeting my current boyfriend :). After Utah, I continued west and a little south to San Diego, California where I ended up staying a week longer than anticipated due to illness. After I got better and out of the hospital, I continued driving around California heading north. After California, I continued north to Oregon, realized how tired of traveling I was and hauled ass through Idaho back east to Utah before finishing in Colorado and finding a new place to live.
WHEW! Even just typing all of that out seems like a lot! And it was. A good a lot ♥
